Tennis matches you want to see this year

Just interested to see what everyone is looking forward to seeing this year if it happens.

Players 1. Federer - Nadal 2. Safin - Nadal 3. Gasquet - Baghdatis

Surface 1. Rebound ace or grass 2. Clay 3. slowish hard court maybe.

Event 1. AO 2. RG 3. US or AO

There isn't a match I'm really looking forward to seeing at wimby. Myabe Hewitt - Roddick

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game

Federer/Nadal @ FO and Hamburg.

Joachim JOHANSSON vs anyone at Wimbledon on his B-day.

Gasquet/Monfils Part II @ FO

Baghdatis/Roddick rematch @ US Open

Safin vs Federer at Wimby or USO

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Federer vs Dent on either grass or fast hardcourt; believe it or not, Dent is the only long-time member of the Top 50 who Federer has never played before (the others are fairly recent entrants, Serra and Tursunov). Obviously he'd need a good serving day, but he could make things interesting if his serve and volleys were on song.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Dent is a decent serve volleyer but I think Fed would destroy him, he loves a target, especially on grass. It would be a nice match to watch though as Fed vs serve-volleyers always are. Lots of nice passing shots.

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Federer has never played Joachim who was in the Top 50 99% of last year injured or not.

He was also in line to meet with him in the Wimby draw last year on a birthday match which would've been sweet.

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Federer-Nadal at any clay court event with Fed winning
Federer-Gasquet at Wimby with Gasquet bringing his A+ game and I don't care who wins.
Federer-Safin at the USO Final/TMC/Any hard court event!
Gonzalez-Santoro on clay and also indoor hard court with Gonzo trying every manner of dropshot
Gonzalez-Johansson with both going hell for leather.. forget the finesse.. I've got the power!
Murray-Roddick with Roddick looking completely bewildered yet again
Nadal-Coria on clay with Coria going through to win in 5 without a single double fault in the deciding set and then Guille rediscovering his confidence .

Please see here if interested in downloading tennis matches.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not a Rafa hater. I am, however, a RAFATARD hater and therefore take endless delight in each Rafa loss as it allows me to sock it hard to his tards. Do try and understand the difference (TARDS)! Don't get me started on Choke-ovic though. Him I do despise. And his TARDS are the lowest of the low .

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Federer - Nadal on clay without a doubt. Monte Carlo would be a great venue for this match. I think Fed is nervous playing against Nadal so he will have to dig deep and it will be fun to watch that match.

Safin - Nadal on slow hard. I hope I get to see this in Miami. This has the makings of a classic.

Baggy - Hewitt on fast hard. Maybe Indian Wells? Another classic.

I am sure I can think of more mouth-watering matches.

Need ideas for a new signature...

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Murray - Roddick & Murray - Hewitt were two matches I was hoping to see this year, it would be nice to see them play each other a few more times this year, especially if the results are the same as last week

Murray - Djokovic

Safin - Federer (with both players playing their best tennis and injury free)

Nadal - Federer in the RG final (pressure on Nadal to defend his crown, pressure on Fed to hold all slams at once)

Re: Tennis matches you want to see this year

Interesting matches and I don't give a monkeys who it's between as long as the match is enjoyable.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
