James, wake up NOW !!!

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

ahh, the return of streaky James...

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Re: Vliegen d. Blake 6-4 6-4

I'm beginning to think the great run James and Robby had last year was an aberration and they are returning to their actual form and settling back into the pack.

I was hoping they were for real. I've been fooled yet again.

I noticed this too. What is it, Basel QFs against Hrbaty, Chennai SFs against Ljubicic (and had matchpoint in the deciding TB), AO 3rd round against Chela, San Jose QFs against Vinny Ice, and now this result today? Good work from someone whom I really thought was going to disappear back into the ether after his one remarkable run in Adelaide at the start of 2003 (although he also reached the semis of Barcelona 04 with a win over Nalbandian, I recall).

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

James had too much trouble with his Mummy over that 'ho to keep her around. She was obviously using him. But now she's in Maxim so she'll get a lot of attention from lounge lizards. Just what she deserves.

Re: Vliegen d. Blake 6-4 6-4

vliegen's been playing well so far this year and james was definitely going to have to come ready to play well to be able to win this, and from the stats it looks like he didn't. oh well, congrats vliegen on a good win.
