where does the Fognini roast rank?

coming back from 2-0 against dull, that's something special. Rosol still has a special place in my heart since it was the first, and so unexpected.. But Fog played the superior tennis against a better version of Dull.

Nothing will ever top Rosol Wimbledon 2012 or Soderling Roland Garros 2009.

Tsonga at AO 2008 is the most impressive roast IMO.

Re: where does the Fognini roast rank?

Let me say I had those moments where I actually gasped from my chair after watching some of Fognini's shotmaking and laughed for real at some of Fognini's errors and Nadal letting slip the lead and that dramatic rollercoaster 5th set. And I was there from start of set 2 and still didn't think Fognini was completely shut out. How to turn a 2-0 and break deficit into a win after woeful endings to both sets? Only Fognini can do that.

Re: where does the Fognini roast rank?

for drama it was special. Being 0-2 and a break down and turn the match?

At the same time gotta be realistic about it. Nadal in 2015 is a shadow of his former self.

Tsongas roast in AO 2008 was indeed special. That was some Edberg stuff at the net. 2009 had too great ones. Soderling at RG and Del Potro at USO. Rosol in 2012 but mostly for the epic 5th set. I put all those above this roast

Nothing can beat Rosol 2012.. I've watched the full match like 10 times and I can still watch that 5th set.. In fact I can watch it everyday

Re: where does the Fognini roast rank?

That Rosol 5th set has got to be the most delicious roast of all time. I mean come on, are you kidding me? As a tennis player, that 5th set peformance is nothing short of a wet dream. That DOES NOT happen! And that shut down Dull for good at Wimby, probably broke him too.

RG 09 must be mentioned for the historic nature of it and it's probably the most difficult roast of all time. Redlining against a prime Nadal on PC is seemingly impossible but Robin did it. There is a reason why he's called Soderking!

Thanks to both Lukas and Robin for saving tennis and humanity.

Federer getting roasted by Nadal at Roland Garros in 2008 is the best.

Re: where does the Fognini roast rank?

I think Del Potro in the semi of the 2009 US Open has to be first. That was a total domination. Or one of the Federer-Nadal WTF matches where Roger dominated him. That was probably the two occasions where Nadal was completely hopeless.

He is rarely dominated, as we know, that is why he is so great, he refuses to be outplayed and more often than not finds a way to make a match competitive even if he is in a tactical disadvantage.

How about Dustinbrowning Rafa? Forgot that? As for me, I'd place the Fog victory at the USO first, then the Brown defeats, and Rosol as a well-deserved third. On second thought, all of them are just jewels.

Tsonga's in objective terms is definitely at the top of the list - it was 100% healthy Nadal at his best year - but because it was such a clean victory there's not an emotional attachment as strong as Soderling's, Fog's and Rosol's.

Expected. Novak's AO demolition of Roger foreshadowed this.
