Andy Murray def. Andy Roddick 7-5, 7-5

Finally the Andys battle is over and I'm

Roddick
Anyway, congrats scotsman

I couldn't see the match. Roddick played like crap, or Murray really played well?

A post that deserves to be on MTF Hall of Fame soon:

An expected result. Why Roddick was even considered a favorite for this match is a mystery to me.

Congrats to Murray on his big win.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Eh? Yes, he certainly WAS the favourite, and how anyone could think this is an expected result is beyond me. Doesn't mean I'm not over the moon about it though, and for entirely positive reasons - 'tis the biggest win of Murray's career, and I hope Petch can do his homework for two quality opponents in a row when his man faces Hewitt tomorrow. Take 'em down, Andy!

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Andy Murray def. Andy Roddick 7-5, 7-5

"Jeez. Roddick not even the best Andy, now. The slide continues."

I saw this quote on another board and had to laugh. I wonder how true the first statement is but I'm pretty sure Roddick is undeserving of his top ten ranking at this point in time. The match was less close than the scoreline because murray had a horde of breakpoints and several won return games without consolidaring.

Roddick was just a sitting duck out there for Muzza's returns..

now hope they show at least highlights of the final on BBC, as they did when he played Federer in Thailand final.

Re: Andy Murray def. Andy Roddick 7-5, 7-5

so what did Roddick in this time? Court positioning again?

pretty sad when John McEnroe outlasts Roddick in a tournament, even if they're playing in different draws ;-(

Petchey isn't here. Andy Murray is on his own this week.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Hmm, surprising.... and impressive that he was able to take down Roddick without coaching input, although I don't think it bodes well for tomorrow. You really do need a lot of tactical input to take on Hewitt.
