Haas is the biggest threat to Federer right now

If Tommy is on top of his game he has the best chance to beat Federer on hardcourts. Federer-Haas will be the best match of the AO 2006. Watch out for Haas.

I think I will have to cheer for Tommy if they get to meet up. I do like Federer but I would love to see Haas take a Slam. He's always had so much potential and never quite fulfilled it ... yet.

Re: Haas is the biggest threat to Federer right now

definitely
Tommy Haas he previously beaten Federer & only recently defeated him in Kooyang classic thou he lost the final to Roddick. he is the best bet to beat the swiss, nalby aside
I would love to see Haas play Federer
even if Hewitt manages to pull thru his match with Chela from 2 sets down, & he were to meet Federer is semis, his chances are as much as mine

When Meeting Someone Greet them by Saying SALAM

Well both have to play their 3rd round matches first - and it won't be easy for both and then we see how much Roger has learnt from his defeat against Tommy in the showmatch - good thing such a showtournament as you can test new shots and still be able to play an other two matches....

Re: Haas is the biggest threat to Federer right now

I'm a huge fan of Tommy but to be honest he'd have to be at the top of his game and even then I'm not convinced he'd have a better than 1 in 5 chance of beating Roger. I'm more inclined to think that if they meet it would be more like Doha than Kooyong. Roger is mentally just much more tough than Tommy and this is compounded by it being 5 sets. I'd enjoy the match but honestly I'd have to go with Roger in 4.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not a Rafa hater. I am, however, a RAFATARD hater and therefore take endless delight in each Rafa loss as it allows me to sock it hard to his tards. Do try and understand the difference (TARDS)! Don't get me started on Choke-ovic though. Him I do despise. And his TARDS are the lowest of the low .

The problem with Tommy is that he tends to stop playing well when he's behind. Apart from that, he could have very far if not for Federer.

I can't believe the bad luck of Richie to draw him in 1st round.

I wouldn't say, that he stops playing well, when he's behind. He showed many mathches where he fighted back an won. His problem is his mental strengh and that he often is thinking about anything else on court but tennis.
And Federer on the other side showed that he isn't comfotable when he's behind, these are the matches that he looses. When he's on top he has nothing to fear but if he gets pressure he seems to loose his strengh sometimes.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, in that Doha match both of them played exceptionally well yet it was Roger who was in control pretty easily too. And even going back to 2002 where Haas beat him in Melbourne he had to save matchpoint on the way so it's not like he is going to blow Federer away even if he wins the match.

Having said that, each of them still have another match to play before the showdown is set- taking nothing for granted.

No I wouldn't call Tommy a quitter though sometimes when he's behind he gets down on himself and makes it so much harder for him to play well.

As I've often said, both Tommy n Nicolas (Kiefer) suffer from mental frailty. With Tommy at least, there's some truth to the rumour that whilst on court he's thinking of that gorgeous blonde cheering him sat in row 1. With Kiefer though I really don't know what he thinks!

Re: Haas is the biggest threat to Federer right now

Haas has smashed Federer two times before in impressive style in Australia, I like his chances that he kills this arrogant bastard Federer a third time.

Albert Costa forever +++ Tommy Haas +++ Ivo Karlovic +++ Peter Luczak

RAFA owns Fedclown ~~~ H2H record 14-7 -- ~~~ 3 different GS finals included
Byebye Fedjerk, your dominance period is over! Nadal will win like 10 more Slams!
