I'm amazed at the amount of statistics you are able to produce just to put up Ginepri.

Re: Round 1 - how long it took them to win

What I'm most surprised in is...how many big names were in the 3+ hours group: Davydenko, Coria, Nalbandian, Hewitt and Kiefer. Fortunately, for most of them, their fitness levels are rarely suspect and I'm hoping it's not a factor in their second round match. Thanks for the interesting stats idolwatcher.

I love my girls.

Re: Round 1 - how long it took them to win

Interesting stats, thanks idolwatcher.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

They should all be fine, except maybe Kiefer (I only say that b/c I'm not sure of the status of his ankle problem from Kooyong). A lot of players will say that sometimes early struggles set you up better as the tourney goes on b/c you get the match toughness Plus, length of match doesn't always tell the whole story. A match between baseliners will be longer than between two serve-volleyers or if you have someone who ends the point really quickly (or is playing so poorly or so well that the points don't last long ). I bet Davydenko's match against Karlovic wasn't all that terribly tiring

Re: Round 1 - how long it took them to win

Haha...that match with Melzer was hilarious. Jurgen throws in the towel with the best of them, Gaudio, Ginepri, Labadze, Safin. He belongs in the sentence with those guys.

Love these fun data collections; thanks for compiling.

Shock to see four of the top six seeds down in the +3 hours category.

Gaudio and his set and a half win (56 mins)?

I was a bit surprised also, but I figured Davydenko and Karlovic would each take at least one set, and with Karlovic's serve, I expected that they would go to at least one tie-break to lengthen their match. I'm wondering how well Simon will do against Berdych in the next round...

I plan to do the same stats for Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open (for at least the first couple rounds; as long as the info is made available to me), and I won't know the results in advance

Re: Round 1 - how long it took them to win

What's the shortest grand slam match in history? I mean non retirement, or default etc..
