Re: Tommy Haas def Richard Gasquet 6-2 7-5 6-2

Stats say it all:

Code:
		Haas (GER) Gasquet (FRA)

1st Serve % 56 of 91 = 62 % 39 of 78 = 50 %

Aces 7 4

Double Faults 1 4

UEs 33 35

Winning % 44 of 56 = 79 % 25 of 39 = 64 %
on 1st Serve

Winning % 19 of 35 = 54 % 20 of 39 = 51 %
on 2nd Serve

Winners 28 27

Receiving 33 of 78 = 42 % 28 of 91 = 31 %
Points Won

BP Conversions 6 of 10 = 60 % 1 of 11 = 9 %

Net Approaches 14 of 16 = 88 % 18 of 31 = 58 %

Total Points 96 73

Fastest Serve 205 km/h 205 km/h

Average 1st 185 km/h 188 km/h
Serve Speed

Average 2nd 152 km/h 148 km/h
Serve Speed
I'm surprised that the winner and UE counts are so even. 1st serve percentage and BP conversion by Richard not good enough.

The speed of his serve is actually pretty decent. Needs to get more 1st serves in though.

I'm sad for Richie, but well done to Tommy.

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: Tommy Haas def Richard Gasquet 6-2 7-5 6-2

I watched the last part of the match that ESPN allowed us to see - Gasquet seemed in a hurry to finish rallies. He had no patience and wanted to go for winners off every shot. I think that has been his downfall for some time now.

I hope his coach drills patience into him. He technical game does not have too many flaws.

Need ideas for a new signature...

Re: Tommy Haas def Richard Gasquet 6-2 7-5 6-2

Yeah, he definitely needs to work on mentally being in the match and in the important points (break point conversion was pretty horrible - he could have had a real good chance to go up a double break in the second set, and that might have changed things), his rallying patience, and raise that first serve percentage. Hopefully he'll get some easier draws, too. Not the best start of the season (0-3 ), but I'm sure he will improve on that.

Congrats to Haas, the little I saw of him playing was quite good.

I am a fan of Federer, Gasquet, Baghdatis, the long-deceased Safin, Youzhny, Nalbandian, Rochus, Tsonga, the sadly-departed Santoro, and good, hearty, competitive tennis matches. The quality of my life does not rest solely on who wins these matches. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that I can live quite happily after a player I like chokes, mugs, bashes, or otherwise succumbs to a loss.
