The "Melbourne" logo written on the court....

..does anyone else find it annoying? I was hoping that it was only temporary last year due to the centenniary event but it seems the logo is here to stay. I mean, sure they have such logos written on courts in the TMC and other selected Master Series events but to have it in a Grand Slam doesn't seem to be in place to my mind. Can you imagine "Roland Garros" written on the back of court Phillipe Chatrier or "The Championships" on Centre Court in Wimbledon?

Not that big a deal RonE but I agree, this is anoying... A "Paris" on the dirt would look cheap...

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

No, it's no big deal, doesn't draw away from the quality of play but still, it just seems out of place considering it is a grand slam.

Nope, I don't find it annoying, in fact I barely notice it. Who cares really, it's just a logo.

It's Ozzie inferiority complex. They think people will not know it is Melbourne - and they may be right. Everyone knows Paris, London and NY, but do a poll and more people might say the AU is in Sydney or Brisbane than say it is in Melbourne.

I noticed it right off and how could u not. It's a bit tacky but once the tennis starts I don't notice it.

Well, you couldn't really write on the courts at those tournaments.

Doesn't the U.S. Open have something written on the hard court there? I thought the Australian Open had always had a logo written on the court -- not just last year.
