Lisnard now plays for Monaco

Looks like he's officially changed his nationality from French to Monac(an)?

I guess this guarantees him a wildcard for Monte Carlo and he can now be considered the greatest player of all time from Monaco.

Re: Lisnard now plays for Monaco

Does seem to be true yes. It is no typo - h is listed as Monacan in the ATP rankings and on stevegtennis.com. Not on the Aus Open drawsheet though

No hard loss for France though really! He probably wanted to play a (winning) role in a Davis Cup team

Re: Lisnard now plays for Monaco

what were his reasons? I'm just curious why he would want to move from a very solid tennis nation like France to one that doesn't have much as far as talent goes...Maybe he wants to be the #1 ranked player for a country

I'd hate to restrict Jean-Rene to one country, when he is a hero to all.

Yes, it's true, it's on the website of the FFT too.
"Lisnard monégasque
Meilleur Français l'an passé à Melbourne (troisième tour), Jean-René Lisnard ne pourra l'être cette année. Agé de 26 ans, le natif de Cannes a en effet choisi de représenter Monaco. Clin d'oeil, "JR" affronte au premier tour l'Argentin Juan Monaco !" (http://www.fft.fr/australie2006/)

(It just says "JR" was the best French player at the AO last year when he reached the 3rd round, but he won't be this year since he's decided to compete for Monaco.)
