Federer - Just enjoying the dream

http://www.smh.com.au/news/tennis/ju...e#contentSwap1

Some excerpts:

"If Federer is the emotional type — remember his blubbering acceptance speech after his first Wimbledon title? — he is also developing with age and years on the tour.

He is becoming more interested in shopping, fashion and in immersing himself in the culture of the many places he visits.

He is more open to learning what he can from the people he meets, and more determined to break out of the narrow hotel-courts-hotel cycle."

"There is no question that winning a fourth consecutive Wimbledon title would mean more to Federer personally but he agrees that a triumph at Roland Garros would add more in a broader sense. It is more necessary. In fact, it would "make" his career. "Winning all four, it's something very few people have achieved, Agassi was the last one to do it and look what an aura he has around him," Federer said. "I'm definitely aiming for that but I can only try, and I hope it's going to work."

Re: Federer - Just enjoying the dream

Is Roger the only player to grant interviews or something? This is like the third or fourth pre-AO interview with him I've seen, and I've yet to see one with Andy or Lleyton or anyone else. Does everyone else choose not to give interviews, or does the press just choose to talk to Roger?

The press chooses to talk more to Roger because, like Shanghai, unfortunately, he is the tournament's torch bearer. They are hoping that by getting the press more access to him, they can salvage some of their dollars.

Hewitt has not been playing well so they don't what to make of it. Andy has been out of action since October and even though he won the Kooyong title, it was after all an "exo". Also, the most recent interview with Hewitt was sort of anti-climactic since instead of saying that he would give Roger a run for his money, he ended up pointing out that their head-to-head is lopsided.

When Roger lost at Kooyong, neither Andy not Lleyton had too much to say about it other than the fact that it was an exo and nobody takes it seriously anyway.

There are interviews with other tennis players but maybe their fans don't feel the need to put them in GM?

Just do a quick search and you'll find other interviews with other tennis players.
In a matter of seconds, I found this interview but if you bother to search more, you'll probably find others.

Re: Federer - Just enjoying the dream

that hardly qualifies as a reason much less an excuse.
its commom knowledge that this title is federer's to lose butr trying to coax up more media attention & public interest in the tournament doeesnt happen by ignoring other challengers
whether they ( or we) like it for the interest of tennis & the game u would want someone to challenge him for real
with the major contenders withdrawing (defending champ -safin & teen sensation Nadal) federer doesnt really have a rival, he has countlessly beaten Hewitt & Roddick emphatically that it leaves little room for either to stand a chance against him
I would like to hear what Gasquet, Haas, Nalbandian, Ljubicic, & Djokvic among other & know what they are thinking

well just my 2 cents

When Meeting Someone Greet them by Saying SALAM
