Thumbs up Hewitt bows to Federer dominance

Quote:
World number four Lleyton Hewitt has acknowledged that Roger Federer is the overwhelming favourite to lift the Australian Open title.

Hewitt reached the final in 2005, but the prospect of meeting the world number one in this year's semi-finals has left the Australian downbeat.

"He's beaten me in our last nine matches, so you work it out," he said.

He's already very pessimistic because he knows he can never win a slam again. Thoughts?

Re: Hewitt bows to Federer dominance

Hewitt is not stupid- he knows what happened the last time he talked full of confidence about his chances against Federer bringing up his victory over him in Davis Cup in Australia time and time again. Everytime he mentioned it Federer ended up wiping the court with him. So he knows his best chance is to play the underdog, remain low key thereby putting all the pressure squarely on Roger's shoulders.

I agree that I don't see Lleyton beating Federer soon, although I do hope for it but to say that he will never win a slam again is crap. Especially if he will get a draw where he doesn't meet Federer before the final, or if Fed is out the tournie. The only 2 players that really bother him are Roger and Marat, so why wouldn't he win a slam again.

Re: Hewitt bows to Federer dominance

Their head-to-head is 11-7 to Roger, which still isn't all that bad. It used to mostly go Lleyton's way and now it goes Roger's. Straight sets losses in the 6 of the last 9 matches, though. Ouch.

Roger is the only player to ever win that much against Lleyton. Lleyton's head-to-head record against the rest of the top 20 is very strong. If someone takes out Roger, Lleyton has a good shot at a Slam.

We know that you think Hewitt will never win a slam again, but bringing this up as in any way confirming it just shows how much of a hater you are and how desperate you are to to see Hewitt fail.

Hewitt's chances of winning another slam aren't that good, but if he does manage to win another one it will be sweet to know that ass clowns like yourself will be livid over it.

Re: Hewitt bows to Federer dominance

the challenge for Hewitt now is to become a contender again at GS
n disrespect to his chances but he has been unable to handle federer the last half a dozen times or so & until he does he cannt expect to win a slam unless federer withdraws or loses earlier
Hewiit main power & key was his never say die attitude & his unwivering comittment
it is what has gotten him to the top & won 2 slams

When Meeting Someone Greet them by Saying SALAM

Re: Hewitt bows to Federer dominance

Other than Roger, in 2005, Lleyton had the best results in Grand Slams. Making the finals of AO, semis in both Wim. and US Open. I wouldn't count out his chances just yet. I think he is the biggest fighter of all the players, alongside Nadal. If he catches Roger on an off day, he has a serious chance at winning this title.
