Qualifying Day 2
Fleishman def Junaid
Zack played out of his mind today, being aggressive and dominating every point with hard groundstrokes from the baseline. He was great at the net too, and held serve easily all the time as Rameez couldnt touch his serve. Rameez was struggling on most of his serves, but managed to hold on to most of them, only getting broken once, in his first service game of the match. Rameez fought hard and managed to get 4-2 up in the TB, but then gave the lead away with a missed 2nd serve return, and 2 netted volleys (one was difficult as it was low, but one was high and easy). Zack then served out the TB. Rameez was really positive after the match though, he knew that he played ok but Zack was just playing the match of his life, but felt that if he'd been able to take the 2nd set, Zack couldnt have kept up that level in the 3rd. I think Fleishman finished up with 40 winners and 16 UEs, which was insane. Obviously it was a great day for him, if he played like that all the time he'd be top 50.
Smeets def Montcourt
I only saw the end of this, but Rob was playing great. He was being aggressive on the returns, hitting hard and volleying really well. He served out the match to love, with no sign of nerves at all, and finished with an ace on match point. Montcourt has solid groundstrokes with good pace on them, he has a nice game to watch.
Lu def Klec
This match was really close, Klec was more aggressive and went for more winners, but made UEs at crucial moments in the TB, and Lu was too consistent for him.
Luzzi def Vico
Luzzi was getting really fired up, and kept saying "Forza!" whenever he won a point. Vico got down an early break in the 3rd and then looked like he was tanking.
Joseph def Berrer
Joseph was playing well and hit a lot of winners in the 3rd set. He was the better player but got tight when serving for the match at 5-4 and got broken. He managed to break again though, and served out the match the 2nd time.
