WOW, what a strong field. This is probably the best International Series event of the year.

It's good that the entries need to be made now because, after the AO, Marat probably won't have a high enough ranking to qualify.

It's a shame that Hewitt chose to play in North America instead. He won the title in 2004 but hasn't been back since.

No but he's playing San Jose the week before so he can't make the change to Europe in just 2 days.

Fernando Gonzalez once did that (from Viña del Mar)
Needless to say he played like shit in his first round match on Wednesday. Which was... against Hewitt

Re: Federer, Nadal, Safin head Rotterdam Field

I don't understand why a lot of players on the alternate list didn't choose to play in the U.S instead, where they could get in directly. The cut-off here is always incredibly high, as it is in Marseille and Dubai.

As for Hewitt, I didn't understand why he's only playing San Jose and not also Memphis or Las Vegas. And please don't mention his wife and baby as an excuse, since they also can get on a plane.

I think Hewitt might still choose to come to Dubai, in which case he'll need to take a week off.

With entry lists like this, what competition is Roddick going to have in the US (besides Hewitt and possibly Agassi)?

That's strange, Nadal is entered in a Federer tournament, he avoided him like the plague all last year.
