Who will win the 2006 AAMI Classic, Kooyong, Melbourne?

Who will win the 2006 AAMI Classic from Kooyong, Melbourne?
Will it be Defending Champion and World Number One Roger Federer? Or maybe last years runner up Andy Roddick? Could it be Guillermo Coria in his first appearance at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club? Four time Champion Andre Agassi returns for another stab at the Kooyong tennis title. Ivan Ljubicic is in action, aiming for his first Kooyong crown. Former Champion David Nalbandian returns. The 2005 Masters Cup winner will try to add another Kooyong title to his lone crown here, won back in 2004. Rising French sensation Gael Monfils will play the Kooyong Classic for the first time, and finally German Tommy Haas returns to Kooyong aiming to get past the round robin stage for the first time.

A high profile field, maybe the best Kooyong has ever seen, but who do you think will emerge as the 2006 AAMI Classic winner??

I don't care. It's only an exho.

Re: Who will win the 2006 AAMI Classic, Kooyong, Melbourne?

Maybe so, but it is proven that in the past whoever wins Kooyong pretty much does very well in the Australian Open. Every time Andre Agassi has won Kooyong, he has won the Aussie Open, in 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2003. Agassi was also a finalist in 2002 (L. Sampras) and 2004 (L. Nalbandian). Unfortunately, he pulled out of 2002 Aus Open with a wrist injury, but went on to the Aus Open Semi Finals in 2004 (L. Safin). Last year, Roger Federer won Kooyong (D. Roddick) and went through the Aus Open before losing in the Semi-Finals to Safin. The two exceptions too this are Sampras, the 2002 Winner (Lost to Safin in R16 at Aus Open) and David Nalbandian, the 2004 champion (Lost to Federer in QF at Aus Open). So it does matter who wins Kooyong in my opinion as they usually do very well at Flinders Park for the first Grand Slam of the year!!!!!

The year Nalbo won Kooyong he played great at the Aussie Open. He didin't lose a set until he met Fed in the QF and lost a tight and high quality match.
Generally alot of the top players play Kooyong, so they're bound to go on and do well at Melbourne Park.

Roger will win. It's very rare for him to lose best of 3 set matches these days.
