Last "competition" of the year 2005...

Finding previous thread as popular
(we got more than 6.000 visitors there)
i prepared another one:
Who is the best returner by "that special way"?
Everybody knows Andre as the best "double-hand"
returner. They say that best "single-hand" returner
currently is Gaudio.
However, not so many of fans know that Andre is using
very often and very efficiently his secret weapon -
"return by the special way".
scientific description of it is as follows:
return between the legs;
better name would be appreciated... .

I'll post below few demo pix.
(thanx Yoguis for his part)
I will challenge you for new "competition":

Please post here pix of your favorite players
while using that or any other "special way"
Just for fun, guys. We need it in the end of the year

Those photos show nothing "special" just a racquet between his legs.

Oh,
one more information:
as you can see, the average speed of
Andre's such return is about 124 km/h...

Merry Christmas, fans!

David Nalbandian of Argentina makes a return
between legs during his fourth round match
against compatriot Guillermo Coria, in Melbourne

Re: Last "competition" of the year 2005...

actually, that shot was invented by Guillermo Vilas and is called "gran willy" ("big willy").
So, most argentinian players do it very well.

There is one shot, made by Gaudio called "gran gaudio" wich consist of doing something like that, but when your opponent hit a drop shot and the ball bounces high.

he did it twice at Australian Open, and one of them was a winner.

Another big point was a "back" forehand from Mariano Zabaleta against Federer at Rome 2003, wich was a winner.

PAW Results 2010/2009/2008/2007/2006/2005:
Winner: / Stuttgart / Viña, Miami, Umag / Stuttgart / Viña / Davis Cup /
Final: / / Paris TMS / Sauipe, B.Aires, Monaco, Umag / Acapulco / Paris TMS / Tokyo
SF: / / Estoril, Shangai / / / / Stuttgart, Palermo
QF: Brisbane/ Umag, USOpen / / Australia, Nottingham, Olympics, Bangkok / Australia, Sauipe / / Kitzbuhel, Beijing

Re: Last "competition" of the year 2005...

i don't know the history of that shot and can agree with
you on: who did it first time,

however (fortunately) i seen myself it more than 5
times made by Andre. I posted 7 such shots (pictures)
of different matches.
They say that he did it much more times ...
and nobody is using it so often as he...
I never seen such stuff made by legendary Sampras...

May be that is why fans call it "Andre's hit"?
