Will Safin ever win another Grand Slam?

Vote in this poll!

If he does win another GS, it will most likely be the Australian.

Re: Will Safin ever win another Grand Slam?

Sadly, probably not. It would only go along with the rest of his tragic career, well, not quite tragic ... but confusing.

I don't think you can guarantee anything with Marat.

Re: Will Safin ever win another Grand Slam?

Probably. When he reaches finals of big events (grand slams and master series events) he does tend to win them. Always a chance at some point that he will perform for a 2 week period. It is more likely than him becoming number 1.

The current greatness league of active players in order of achievements to date (a factual comparison rather than fan biased assessment):

Federer 17 GS, 6 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.
Nadal 14 GS, 27 Master Series, 1 Olympic Gold.
Djokovic 9 GS, 4 Year End Masters, 24 Master Series.

As I said somewhere before, yes, in 2010, unless something really weird happens and he wins before that.

Re: Will Safin ever win another Grand Slam?

I think it's unlikely that he'll ever win the US Open again. It's very unlikely that he'll ever win Wimbledon. But there's a good chance of him winning the Australian Open again - those Rebound Ace courts seem to suit his game perfectly. As for Roland Garros, I rate his chances at about 50-50.

He probably will at SOME point- only thing is, chances are he will do it when everyone is least expecting him to.

I agree with you mostlty but I just tilt a bit in the direction of yes, probably. I don't know if it is out of wishful thinking or belief. I just love the man.
