SI's sportsman of the year: Not Roger (or Tiger or Lance)

...but Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. I'm bummed Roger didn't grab the honor, but not surprised since he's not an American and SI could give a shit less about Tennis.

Tom Brady is perfectly deserving of the award, of course and he does play a team sport, so he is viewed not only as a great player, but superb leader.

He is America's new Golden boy, 3 super bowl rings and attracting compliments from spectators comparing him to The Great Joe Montana.

I'm happy for him.

Re: SI's sportsman of the year: Not Roger (or Tiger or Lance)

That surprises me, because even though they won the Super Bowl, the team hasn't had a very good season this year. I guess it's more of a cumulative award for his efforts over the past 4 or 5 years.

He's not perfectly deserving, Lance, and Roger achieved MUCH more but he's a good guy!

Well, from a sports magazine which needs a swimsuit section to catch the average fat, beer and pizza combo U.S sports fan ...

It's only SI -- most of the writers don't know or care who Rogi is. I'm not surprised.

Tom Brady sucks, and so does Peter King, who spends all of his columns writing about his favorite coffee and his daughter's softball team. I'm glad I didn't renew my subscription.

SI isn't worth a subscription.

True, I got guilt-tripped into buying one because a co-worker's kid was selling them for school.
