Carlos Moya 2006

uh.... what happeend to carlos this year? he slipped down to currently number 30 from number 5! What will his end of year ranking be like next year? Do you think he is gone for good? I hope not i can see him rise up the rankings up to top 15 but not much more.

He has had two main problems in 2005.

1) After his DC title in 2004 , his motivation went down vertically and he's a player that needs to have a clear goal to be motivated and this year hadn't this goal.

2) He had a serious shoulder injury for several months that didnt' let him to hit the serve , a key shot in his playstyle.

Even Carlos considers that he has had bad luck with the draws since he has had to face a lot of times Puerta, a player that because of any reason Carlos has a lot of problems against him . He thinks that if Puerta had been in the other part of the draws he would have won more points

He's already training toughly for the next season and is making a good off-season , with enough time, so he's very excited and confident about next year and wants to return again inside top 10.

I don't see him with the mental strength enough to return again inside this top 10 , besides his current ranking doesn't let him to have good draws as he had in the past , although i expect a better season in comparison with 2005

Have all the injury problems cleared. If not getting back into the top 10 will be very difficult. Has never really addressed the weaknesses of his backhand.

Re: Carlos Moya 2006

He still has the potential to come back in the top 10.
We'll see that in his first tournament of the year 2006, in Chennai ??

Yes, the question of his shoulder condition is what will matter. Is it strong enough not to cause him problems again this year. The ever present backhand weakness didn't keep him out of the top ranks before; so even if he continues his game of running around it at every opportunity, he should have a shot at getting back up there if his shoulder allows.

At least we hope he can do it
