Player's strengths: Removed

Pick a player, subtract their most valuable stroke, predict their ranking.

(Attributes such as mental strength and athleticism can't be subtracted, thats fuckin stupid)

This is to evaluate how reliant certain players are to their strokes.

pos. name/stroke. new pos.
1. Roger/fore = 1
2. Nadal/fore = 2
3. Andy/serve = 90
4. Hewitt/back = 7
5. Nikolay/Serve = 11
6. David/Back = 20
7. Agassi/Back = 6
8. Coria/Back = 25
9. Ivan/Serve = 40
10. Gaudio/Back = 110

Re: Player's strengths: Removed

So you have a computer in your head the calculates where the rest of the 1500 players on Tour go to? :retard:

How the hell can you say Roddick drops to #90...or Ivan #40...or anything. :retard:

I agree with Federer, Nadal and Agassi - they are still top 10, the former 2 top 2 anyway.

What a pointless thread.

Re: Player's strengths: Removed

If Davydenko's most valuable shot is his serve, then the man in my avatar is the second coming of Rod Laver.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Gawd, where do you get those numbers from?

Re: Player's strengths: Removed

If Andy Roddick served like Elena Dementieva I guess he would be ranked about 150
How do you calculate the numbers - guesswork

Re: Player's strengths: Removed

If a player was lacking their most valuable stroke, they would have developed some of their other strokes differently. That is to say, if Andy had a crap serve, he'd probably have a better backhand... or something.

I know that I'm missing the point by pointing this out, I'm just saying. If one doesn't have something to rely on, they work on other things so that they have more to fall back on.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Yes, where would Davydenko be without all the aces he produces every match.

Re: Player's strengths: Removed

I'm sure Federer and Nadal would be unranked if they had to run around every forehand

Sad but very true!

But what about Roger and his backhand? Take it away and he'll probably drop to 4 or 5 considering the number of winners that it generates.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that as delusional as the thread starter is, he meant that you'd take away a player's weapon and replace it with an average stroke.

Andreev - Cilic - Dolgopolov - De Bakker - Djokovic - Gulbis - Haase - Hrbaty - J Johansson - Kucera - Kuznetsov - Russell - Simon - Sweeting - Thron

Dominika Cibulková
