Karsten "Katze" Braasch Retires From Professional Tennis!

After 18 years on the tour he will end his career. One reason was that it wasn't always fun anymore - 20 players refused to play doubles with him in Wimbledon. He still had to play this year to get the ATP-pension.

Next year he only want to play in a 2.Bundesliga team and in the future he wants to become a coach. The article also says that he already has some offers from top 100 players.

Braasch rocks!

Karsten Braasch beendet Karriere
Am Ende des Jahres ist international Schluss
HalleWestfalen.

20 players turned him down?!?! Did they not realize that they were in the presence of a legend?!

Blasphemous.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Braasch

What a serve, the wrap around glasses, the beard, the cigarettes, hanging at casino before early matches the next morning and all the dinks at the net.

I agree with the people who said those players should be named and shamed for refusing to play doubles with him.

Braasch took the piss out of the Williams sisters after he just came back from tennis after being out for 6 months. He played on court 12 with no linesmen or other officials and whilst they were playing at top capacity, Braasch was very relaxed and taking it easy. smoking at the change of ends and laughing with the crowd.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Karsten "Katze" Braasch Retires From Professional Tennis!

I took some pics of him at Sydney and the Australian Open 2003.
He was really a cool guy.
Only cigar smoking player on the ATP, I reckon.

Shame on those who turned them down. They should have felt honoured.

Safin: His Royal Dork-ness
Hewitt: Mowing a lawn near you
Kuerten: tennis in the shape of a heart
