Fed feels all alone at TMC

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051119/...masters_cup_38

Quote:
Federer, who had been sidelined six weeks because of an injured right ankle, hobbled into Shanghai thinking he'd be the most likely to withdraw.

"I definitely felt a little bit of pressure," he said. "That I've made it so far now I think is maybe great for the tournament — I hope so. For myself, I think even more."

Second-ranked Rafael Nadal, the last player to beat Federer — at the French Open semifinals in June — and No. 5-ranked Andre Agassi pulled out Monday because of injuries.

"All of a sudden, I felt a little bit left alone," Federer said. "I was like, 'Well, I better win a match here."

I'm sure he'll feel very alone flying home with all that prize money.

It's Feds fault. If he'd withdrawn, Gaudio wouldn't have a Masters Cup double-bagel to add to his growing list.

Oh poor Roger! lol!!!

Just teasing...

I see his point. He must feel a lot of pressure to play well, stay in it, and give the tournament something since no one else did.

Not that if they were there, he wouldn't still be winning, but at least there would be more competition.

And yes, the money will definitely make him feel better!!! lol!

I could deal with the loneliness if I had that prize money to keep me company.

I bet he does feel alone. He was the only top 5 player there Makes you feel sorry for the people who had to go to the tournament

What about his opponents. They were all thinking we can win this event then he arrived.

Now we know why he left. Roger was coming on too stong.

Re: Fed feels all alone at TMC

I think maybe Fed underestimated the other player's health issues, for one...I mean, he had reason to be concerned about his own health, but he seems to be able to move well enough on the court, and hasn't lost yet, so he should be happy!

Kudos to Fed. It was quite moving when you heard and saw he talking about these. He felt the responsibility and you can see how sincere he is.

What to believe in, it's impossible to say?
What to believe in when they change your name, wash your brain, play the game again, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Re: Fed feels all alone at TMC

Federer is talented and all, but I'm getting a little tired of the tongue-in-cheek arrogance. It would be funny if David beat him in the final.
