Miami [R1] Thiem d. Schwartzman 7-6(0) 7-5

phew. Dominic was quite bad through the entire first set, broken while serving for the first (admittedly, this was a breakfest all the way), and only managed to find his game in the tiebreak, which featured some brilliant winners from Domi.

I expect him to take advantage of that good moment... and then he went 0-3 down in the second thankfully, he fought back and managed to close it in two. Lopez next, should be the Spaniard in two if he keeps going like this.

Tommy Haas

Roger Federer - David Goffin - Stan Wawrinka - Jerzy Janowicz - Dominic Thiem - Lleyton Hewitt

Nieminen - L. Mayer - Delbonis - Del Potro - Berlocq - Djokovic - Tsonga - Melzer - Karlovic - Murray - Kohlschreiber

ST [Rank: #31 / Best Rank: #31] [Titles: Kuala Lumpur 14' - M1000 Shanghai 14' ] [Wins: Australian Open 15' Montpellier 15']

Schwartzman's lack of serve is painful

Tennis players without serve now is useless. It's real problem now. Diego can win against Top 60-100 players with it but it will be VERY hard against TOP 40-50.

Diego can win Top 50 players only on clay may be.

Peak WTA shitfest

At least he won the TB 7-0 and managed it to come back after a double break (0-3). Well, at the moment the most important thing is that he won

And he didn't lose a set to Schwartzman, thanks god!

Dominic Thiem

WTAman

Lopez can always throw in a bad match, especially on a slow court.

Thiem in 2, you heard it here first.

Thiem wasn't great but he has an amazing draw, we should beat Lopez the only top 16 rank better would have been Gulbis

Schwartzman is just too short. Thiem, very bad. Hope he lifts his game in the next match.

It's all PR... Someone started talking about Coric and now you guys believe he's so wonderful kid, his highest ranking - 84, Dzumhur highest ranking - 87. The same actually. Difference? Coric made it via wildcards - to Basel for example, Dzumhur had to reach it by hard work, on qualies, challengers.

Domi is so bad at the moment that any win is a good achievement.

At this stage, a win is a win, no matter how unconvincing.

Well done Domi

A straight sets win by Thiem, color me surprised, but relieved, haha.

Re: Miami [R1] Thiem d. Schwartzman 7-6(0) 7-5

So sorry for Schwartzman, but with his height it's impossible for him to compete with the big boys in tennis now.

It's incredible, he still made top 100 with that disadvantage, but that's as far as he can go.

"The point is that to root for Federer is to root for a Platonic ideal. It is like rooting for truth. (...) Detractors who said, “Don’t you get tired of him winning all the time?” were missing the point. Every victory was a validation. No one gets bored by the sun coming up in the morning."
