David Sanchez Retires From Professional Tennis!

The Viña del Mar and Bucarest 2003 Champion has dediced to retire from professional tennis after winning this week the Spanish National Championships by Teams, playing for Valencia CT who won the tournament (Ferrer, Verdasco, Calatrava or Gimeno-Traver in the team ..).

This year best results came in Amersfoort (SF, def Massu) and St. Poelten (def Ginepri, Starace), also a 3rd round show in RG (def Kuerten and T.Johansson)

In his career, David beat players like:
Gastón Gaudio, Guillermo Cañas, Nikolay Davidenko, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Fernando González, Carlos Moya, Igor Andreev, Mariano Puerta, Gustavo Kuerten, Alex Corretja, Magnus Norman, Sergi Bruguera o Robby Ginepri

Sanchez is 27 years old and has dediced to take all time for his personal and new professional life, he prefers to retire now when he is still 100% than in the future when tennis "leave you".

Re: David Sanchez Retires From Professional Tennis!

I'll miss him... he was such a nice guy... But anyways, if he feels he can't achieve anything more as a player, than it's a right decision. There's so much he can do in life that may make him happy

He doesn't need Wimbly in his curriculum , since he has won Viña del Mar

A tournament where one of the national heros " Massu " hasn't got to win it , a national hero who needs all his country voting for him in internet polls to get wildcards

Nico doesn't needs our votes to get a wildcard. We only are consequent and retribuited his effort during a year where he had battle with a lot of injuries and because he gave a lot of happiness to chilean people last year. That's the minor thing that we can do for retribuited him.

Who was that player who was toughly criticized in Chile because he skipped the first Davis cup tie this season due to an injury ?? ( an injury which wasn't false )

I think it was a guy called something like nico... mass...., do you know him ??

Firstly it's your national hero ( last year ), and this year you ( chileans ) lynches him although he wasn't faking

Why would Verdasco be playing for Valencia when he's madrileño?

Anyhow, all the best for David. Pity I never saw him play.
