Tennis Channel and Comcast

I remember there was a thread a while ago where people were rejoicing b/c comcast and the tennis channel signed a deal. I called comcast in my area (Miami) a few days ago and they had no idea what I was talking about.

I really wanted to watch these matches:

I'm most upset I still can't get it and would be willing to trade or pay someone to get them. Does anyone know what the status is with this deal? I was informed that I could get the golf channel, but for some reason she thought I was crazy to think I could get the tennis channel.

Re: Tennis Channel and Comcast

Each local Comcast franchise is allowed to make their own decision about whether or not to add the Tennis Channel. Call again and ask to speak to a supervisor who has a clue, and go to Comcast.com and send them an email as well (the emails are sorted and answered on a regional basis). Then call the nearest USTA office (even if you are not a member) and ask them if they are doing an organized effort to convince Comcast to add the Tennis Channel (some of the USTA Chapters are doing this). The Comcast systems that have added it have made it part of the digital sports package, so be prepared to pay a few dollars extra for that.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

No kidding. It's a serious upgrade for us. Digital + Sports Package. Would bring the monthly fees close to US$75. We're just too cheap to go for it. So for now, I'll just have to complain...softly.

I love my girls.

My total would be closer to $90, which is a hell of a lot to pay for the one channel I want. It's probably cheaper to buy the matches I want from Sports Resources.

My parents are paying about $65 a month for digital sports, the entire tier of HBO, SHO, and Cinemax PLUS high-speed internet (from Adelphia).

C'mon, Lleyton!

Re: Tennis Channel and Comcast

For me it's an extra $10 a month or so, but I'm very lucky that my building includes basic cable and the digital converted in my rent. Right now, til the end of the year, Comcast LA is putting it in the regular digital package - then it'll go into the digital sports package so it'll cost an extra $5 a month. For me it's worth it, I definitely watch it enough to make it worth $15 a month (plus all the other stations I get). I've loved watching the Seniors the past couple days (watching Goran/Wilander right onw). And I love the original programming, like where they interview players in depth and follow them off court and go to charity events and stuff. and the international tourneys during the Masters events, there is nothing like waking up with my coffee and watching life tennis. So you just have to decide whether it's worth it. I figure if i'm gonna shell out a few hundred bucks for one weekend of Davis Cup next Spring, I can get TTC for the whole year for less than half of that and I get to enjoy it almost every day

As for Comcast picking it up, just keep complaining and begging for it. Tell them you want to put in a formal request for it and have everyone you know do the same. The fact that the person you got on the phone hadn't heard of it only meant that not enough people have been calling so that's why she hadn't heard of it - I mean she's not the one who makes any decisions so unless people call and complain and stuff, the regular people in the customer service won't have heard about it. So just keep at it, don't give up!

Good luck

Re: Tennis Channel and Comcast

If your watching it, is there any chance you could record it for me? I'm going to try and get the tennis channel soon, but I'd really like to watch the Martin vs McEnroe match tonight.
