Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

Ferrer becomes the first player in 2015 to win 3 titles - Doha (d. Berdych), Rio (d. Fognini), and Acapulco (d. Nishikori). He improves to 18-1 on the season, with two title wins vs top 10 players and two 500-level crowns. He also won 500's on clay and hard in back-to-back weeks, with only a day in between (in which he was traveling from Brazil to Mexico).

That second set was crazy. Seven breaks in the first eleven games, and 4 straight before Ferrer served it out in the twelfth game. Crazy shizz.

This is Ferrer's 24th title (1 M1000, 9 500's, 14 250's) and his fourth Acapulco title. He moves into 3rd in the Race to London (after Djokovic and Wawrinka). He is also the first player since Gomez in 1988 to make clay and hard finals in consecutive weeks (that stat via @TennisTV).

Stan ~ Ferru
Murray ~ Mahut ~ Tsonga ~ Monfils ~ Almagro ~ Brown ~ (Marc) Lopez ~ Marrero ~ McGee ~ Ymer brothers ~ Tiafoe ~ Chung
Stosur ~ Robson ~ Serena ~ Venus ~ Radwanska ~ Bencic ~ Gibbs ~ Mirza ~ Li Na ~ Dellacqua ~ Townsend ~ Bartoli

Acapulco Final: Ferrer defeats Nishikori 6-3 7-5

David claims his 3rd title of 2015 with wins over Berdych and Nishikori in the Finals of two of the three! Guy is simply incredible.

Yesssss! One week, he's winning clay. The next, he's doing it on hard courts.

Thank god!!! We finally figured out how bad Nishikori had to be outplayed for Ferrer to avoid choking to him (and he was pretty bad)! Not that he didn't try, but he got there in the end.

Dedicated to elliot and Lenders of course

Back in the top 8 in time for his annual second round IW loss

Re: Acapulco F: [2] Ferrer def. [1] Nishikori, 6-3 7-5

Are people going to go on about how embarrassing it is for a 32-year-old to beat a 25-year-old who is ranked higher than him? Or do we only do that with Federer-Djokovic matches?

Knowing MTF, I suspect the latter.

what a great year for both Stan and Ferrer, yet their favorite part of the season still yet to come

That was a horror show.

Nishi barely present mentally, gifting error after error 3-6 0-3*, Nishi raises level a bit (it couldn't get worse) and Ferrer starts to choke terribly. Nishi gets it back on serve, then they exchange gifts for a while until it's over.

Oh yes, just beautiful.
A past his prime 33-year-old David shows he can still school those much much younger top 4 players in their peak.

3rd title this year and it's still February in some parts of the world, incredible
