Monfils' season

His 1st full year on the tour- good or bad

25-22 1 title-2finals.

few wins in the GS ans TMS tournment

i think it was good 1st year, few bad loses, but its something he will improve on as he plays more.

Re: Monfils season

He did a lot better than I thought he would do. Early on in the season he had some bad losses, but he really solidified his form after Wimbledon, winning Sopot and reaching two indoor finals.

Big Wins
6-4 7-6 over Gaudio early on in the season
6-3 6-2 over Radek Stepanek
7-6 6-2 over Richard Gasquet
4-6 6-1 6-4 over Nikolay Davydenko
Bad Losses
3-6 1-6 0-6 to Guillermo Cañas
2-6 4-6 to Jamie Delgado
6-4 5-7 5-7 to Stefan Koubek
4-6 4-6 to Christophe Rochus

Re: Monfils' season

excellent start to a promising career. i am very proud of him.

Q. When you've played as few matches as you have over the last two, three months, did you ever lack motivation to go out and practice?

ANDY RODDICK: Motivation? No. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy what I do. You know, I've never been one to, you know, blow off practice or, you know, do anything like that.

You know, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to practicing the next two days as opposed to playing here. That part is gonna suck...(2010 Aegon Championships)

Re: Monfils' season

Good first year, better than I expected .. But he had some big loses against some of the best players (Roddick, Lubjicic, Ancic, Canas, Nadal .. winning very few games against them). Hopefully he will continue to progress next year.

Re: Monfils' season

for sure it was a really good season but pretty irreguliar, with some defeats that he could have win, with a better concentration and a better preparation. I particularly think about roland garros, and other small tournies where he could have easily gone far, but where he fell early each time, hope it's gona be good for next year, he will get atp points easier in those tournies... next goal: getting french n°2, soon i hope!
