Re: Federer optimistic for Shanghai

he better not play if hes not 100%. he cannot afford any stupid mistakes while he is in the prime of his career. i hope hes seen what safins done to himself and doesnt follow the same path. just make sure your fit and healthy and 100% go for the aussie open which is far more important than the mc.

I agree with you. I think his injury is not just an "ordinary" injury at all. He should not force himself to defend his title if his not fully fit, he is just putting his health at stake.

What frightens you?

Re: Federer optimistic for Shanghai

At the risk of being red dotted. I question all these injuries leading up to Shanghai. Any bets Federer shows up, plays, and wins. Agassi, Nadal will show up to and play like they were never injured-just rested. Hewitt is also probable to me.

Don't you think Rogelio knows that? He's not stupid. Remember, he withdrew from the Canada masters when he had points to defend and his YE #1 status was still up in the air. He said on Swiss TV today that he'll go to Shanghai and see how it is and if he can't play then he'll have an extended holiday.

Mirkaland, I don't think 1sun was giving advice to Roger (who I'm sure he knows doesn't read this board), but rather speaking to the other posters here.

If Roger doesn't win Shanghai then his USO title won't mean shit.

Congrats to Andy Roddick, 2017 Hall of Fame!

It's a GS title, why wouldn't it matter?

I would only play if I was healthy enough to win it. Don't wanna ruin the reputation of the year with a bad performance in shanghai

Another Game for Milos

Re: Federer optimistic for Shanghai

Well, even if he doesn't play in Shanghai at least it seems on the surface that his injury is not as bad as previously believed. Worst case scenario I hope is he withdraws from Shanghai rests, let it heal all the way then works his ass off comes down to Australia in early January 100% fit and ready to go.
