I love this kid so this isn't a nasty criticism of him but one of concern.

Rafa plays way to much.

He seemed like he was hurting out there for the first two sets.

My hope is that he takes the next two weeks off and just thinks about Shanghai.

What's next, Basel and then Paris? He's got nothing to prove. Go home and relax Rafa. See you in Shanghai.

I doubt he'll skip Paris, but I agree about Basel.

Re: Time for Rafa to take a rest...

Basel is pointless... he can stil it.

But he should play Paris. He misses too many MS events as it is.

He was cramping posing for pictures.

I wonder how his knees are.

Again, just very concerned.

I don't want to see a player with so much talent and as we just witnessed so much heart go down early in his career because of injuries due to overplaying.

Uncle Toni - you need to sit down with Rafa and figure out a more appropriate schedule next year.

Re: Time for Rafa to take a rest...

yes, you must rest now Rafa. I want the masters cup final to encapsulate 2005. Rafa vs Roger. So both must be fit and we can have a wonderful final

His knees from the 3rd or 4rd set were hurting him and i think it's obvious he's gonna pull out of Basel

Some month ago i was criticized because i committed the sin of critiziing Nadal's schedule . Then if someone calls you as a moron or retard, don't be surprised at this fact

Re: Time for Rafa to take a rest...

Galaxystorm - you were right - you saw it ahead of many others. You shouldn't have been criticized for it especially because actually I think there were others that were saying it too.

At least he's stopped playing doubles - or at least I think that he's pretty much stopped playing doubles.

Re: Time for Rafa to take a rest...

No way he plays Basel and I don't think he should play Paris. If he does have tendanitis, he needs to rest. That's the only thing that will help that condition.

Re: Time for Rafa to take a rest...

Oh no, that's horrid news.

I thought for sure that he would drop out of Basel.

Oh Rafa sweetie, what is in your head???????????????

More importantly, where is Uncle Toni's head. He's the older one, his coach, his uncle, the one he looks to for advice - Rafa is just a kid. Why isn't Uncle Toni telling him not to play???

I think it's rather honorable of him... he likes to keep his committments.

I'm sure next year he'll schedule a less demanding season.

Toni told him not to go to Cincinnati and we know how that went. Maybe when the adrenalin rush is over he'll listen to reason.
