Not every fan visits a player's forum, and there might be posters who aren't fans but may want to see the episode anyway. I don't get your animosity towards this thread

Do you imagine that romanian fans opened a thread every time that Pavel or Hanescu were on TV ?? ...

As far as i understand General messages forum it's to talk mainly about worlwide tennis news etc and not to post TV schedules of concrete countries...( no matter if that TV can be seen in others countries with satellite )

By the way, in my whole life i have never seen Oprah show and maybe i'm wrong but as far as i know there are millions of human beings that haven't seen it either

I'm just being ironic about the fact of in some countries they feel they are the center of the universe..and these persons post their TV schedules as if they had worlwide importance

If you did post about pavel, hanescu etc. being on show that's televised worldwide, i doubt anyone would take issue with it and many would probably be appreciative of the information.

As far as GM being a forum for 'worldwide tennis news etc.', if 'mirka is a fat cow' and 'ferrerro is boning sharapova' fits the bill, there's no need to make a big deal out of this thread. Roger being on the Letterman show got a couple of threads in GM, and so what? some people were interested in his interview, some weren't. if you don't care, ignore it .

and uhmm..'some countries feel they are the center of the universe...'? whether this is true or not, it's really not that deep. Blake is tennis player, this is a tennis forum. Someone made a thread in GM about his appearance on 'Oprah' probably because more posters would know about it than if it were just posted in his forum. Pretty harmless imo

First of all, watching that you have done a literal interpretation of the expression " worlwide tennis news ", please forget it, because it seems that creates confusion.

I'm not criticizing the fact of posting a Blake's new in GM at all , because i understand that people has the right to post messages about players , being these players very known or been less. I'm not gonna criticize a tennis new about Blake or Mertinak or Bracciali..

What i'm criticizing is that this new isn't talking about a match, talking about a concrete tennis fact, this new is to talk about Blake is gonna be on an american TV..

The problem is that out of the States this new lacks of great importance since this show isn't easy to watch ( sometimes is in pay per view TV's or you need to have a satellite dish aerial) . I have no channel to watch this show, and the 99% of persons in my country have no idea who is Oprah , and if i ask my neighbour do you know Oprah he would tell me : " Oprah what "??

I know this show can be watched out of the States BUT do you think that more than the 1% of french , german , italian citizens watch this show ??

In fact i doubt that more than a 5% of european MTF users are gonna watch this interview with Blake ..

As i unsderstand this new has a very local importance , i understand is more logical to post this new in Blake's forum, because we aren't talking about a match of James but an american TV program watched mainly by americans..

I hope you have undestood what i mean, the problem isn't Blake, the problem is this new is about the schedule of a TV program.

people have posted stuff about players that are going to be on tv in different countries in the past such as federer on 60 minutes in australia etc( not a lot of posters get australian tv programs either). what's the big deal. it's nice to let people that might not otherwise visit james' forum know in case they want to check it out.

Er, I hate to break it to you but the majority of posters on MTF are American.

Re: Blake on Oprah Friday Oct 21

I for one am not a Blake fan so I would never go in his forum, but I might watch Oprah today since I have nothing else to do.

So thank you for informing ME at least. I appreciate it.

Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka

Re: Blake on Oprah Friday Oct 21

I consider that some kind of threads should be posted in players forums but it seems that none shares my opinion . Although i wonder if you would keep the same opinion if from now on every person posted TV tennis schedule ( matches, shows, interviews etc ) of their own countries in GM

As i've already said all what i wanted to say , then i finish this thread .

Re: Blake on Oprah Friday Oct 21

Thanks for posting - maybe someone can describe what happened on the show afterwards, it is too late for me to tape it now that I am at work.

Andrei could be on Oprah - he seems like a funny guy, I like when he hopped in the Evian bin at the Aussie Open and asked "Who wants ice cream?" Nasty would be an even better guest.

Well then perhaps all those threads about "Is Federer the best ever" or "Is Andy Murray the best youngster" type threads should also only be in player forums. The Ljubicic serving streak thread... he has a forum. Why isn't it there? Sharapova banging Ferrero should be in the Ferrero forum, and so on...

You could go on and on and completely rid GM of about 90% of it's posts.

What is the harm of letting people know that James is on Oprah? There are plenty of Canadians and Americans who are not fans of James Blake and who don't watch Oprah that would not have known otherwise but might be interested to watch. If it doesn't interest YOU just don't open the thread. Is that so hard?
