Who will win the Madrid AMS??

With Federer, Hewitt, Safin and Agassi pulling out, things are pretty uncertain here. What do you people think?

No Hewitt and Agassi? When did they withdraw?
So many players seem to be always injured for this tournament. Last year, Henman was the no.1 seed.

Surely it will be Roddick v Nadal in the final.

...and with Gasquet out, JCF only needs one more withdrawel to be seeded. Is Puerta allowed to play?

hard to know without seeing the draw first!

re: puerta, he has not been officially notified of anything, still just media speculation as far as I know, so yes he can play. You don't have to stop playing as a result of media rumors

Thursday, I guess. Agassi wants to rest until Paris and the Masters. Hewitt has a problem with a toe.

Re: Who will win the Madrid AMS??

If JCF can be seeded, I think it will make a big difference. After playing in the Vienna final, he needs all the rest he can get so a bye to the 2nd round is absolutely crucial. If he doesn't have to play until Wednesday, he could be one of the favourites.

Ancic! OK, that's highly unlikely... Probably Nadal - he'll show us what a clay-court specialist he is, that brat.

I am a fan of Federer, Gasquet, Baghdatis, the long-deceased Safin, Youzhny, Nalbandian, Rochus, Tsonga, the sadly-departed Santoro, and good, hearty, competitive tennis matches. The quality of my life does not rest solely on who wins these matches. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that I can live quite happily after a player I like chokes, mugs, bashes, or otherwise succumbs to a loss.

Re: Who will win the Madrid AMS??

I'm going to say Andy. He is flying under the radar and I think he wants it really badly. This is his best chance to win a masters this year. On this surface, Nadal isn't so frightening, but I think Andy will definitely have to go through him to win and he will have to play one hell of a match.
