Madrid breaks its record: 120.440 people visited the tournament!

Passion for Tennis!
I was as a volunteer in the Madrid Arena and i've enjoyed, more tennis this week to come!
I saw Chela, Almagro, García-López and 1st set of Martin and good tennis

Almagro can play awesome tennis if his head works, Chela destroyed Mónaco, the young argentinean had nothing to do againts J.Ignacio, and Guiller García had some problems in his first service games but then played great shots from the baseline.

With the names that were playing, it shouldn't be surprising... sadly, it is!

Madrid breaks its record and with 120.440 spectators confirms the tournament as the 3rd most visited in Europe only after RG and Wimbledon !

Ion Tiriac announced that the city will host the tournament in 2006 and 2007 but he wants to move to the Madrid Olympic Tennis Stadium "Magic Box" for 2008, if this facilitie isn' finished the tournament could move to another place NOOOOOO

so i hope the city will build this new stadium! i want this tournament here for ages!!!!

Wow- great numbers! So glad that you had a lot of fun Alvarillo.

I know that soccer is the most popular sport in Spain. And I Imagine Formula 1 is rising in popularity thanks to Alonso. How popular is tennis? It seems to be quite popular- is it one of the three or four most popular sports there?

Always great to see big numbers at any event. It seems like records were broken all over the place in ATP events this year.

I know a lot of people are quite disparaging about the Madrid Masters' - but I really like it - the atmosphere, the staff and the facilities for players and spectators alike are all excellent - and I hope it stays there for a long time to come. I noticed they had made quite a few changes to the venue layout this year (bigger spectator restaurant and better facilities for example) and it was all excellent - can't wait to return to Casa del Campo again in 2006 Glad you enjoyed your time Volunteering, Alvarillo.

I was one of those 120, 440 people. Really nice tournament, much much nicer than the Paris Masters!
