vienna final is best of five

Re: Vienna final best of 5?

the only time i've actually cared about the vienna final, goran came back against greg when he was down 3 mps and 2 sets to love to win in 5. but a lot of tournaments had switched to a best of three instead of a best of five final since then. anyways, he's gonna have to get some sleep tonight

I think its more to do with TV rights... Different contracts each year can cause the final to be changed... For example, I know the TV contracts have changed in Indian Wells over the last few years, hence the final being best of 3 until this year when it was changed to best of 5

Re: Vienna final best of 5?

There's no rule about how many sets in an ATP event final ( not ITF ) have to be played . It's only a decision of the tournament ( and maybe TV's )

An international series final could be at the best of five sets and an AMS final at the best of 3, although usually international series are at the best of 3, international series gold at the best of 5 and AMS also at the best of five ( except for Canandian AMS and Cincy )

Vienna is at the best of 5
