ljubicic serve and volley? what Ljubicic is power serve and blasting FH and BH from line.

2005 Dubai, Hard, S
U.A.E. Hard S Ljubicic 4 6 3 6
2004 Monte Carlo AMS, Clay, R64
Monaco Clay R64 Ljubicic 4 6 6 7

H2H Robredo vs Ljubicic

my pick: Ivan 6-3 6-4. still has not dropped a set in Vienna or Serve i think

I like Stepanek's game, he's very efficient.

no Way
this tournamnet is for Juan Carols Ferrero he will beat Ljubicic in final, after beating so easily Nalbandian
and Ferrero is one of the best returners when he is in form so Ljubicic will lose serve and not only once ! and I thing even Robredo could sneak his serve once

Davydenko is Top 10 or Top 5 in all of the return stats. 6-1 6-4 last time vs Ivan indoor

That just cuz Davydenko plays alot on clay. Anyones return stats rock if they play on alot on the dirt.

In the strict sense of the expression we couldn't consider Ivan as a serve-volley player like Dent , Mirnyi ... are

But sometimes simplifying playstyles , players are divided in two groups ( baseliners and serve-volley players ) and making this simplification a lot of players are inserted incorretly in one of these groups when surely it would be necessary more groups than two to differentiate playstyles . Then i was only making a simplification with Ljubicic's playstyle.

Re: Will spanish baseliners can beat serve&volley guys ??

It would be easier to differentiate them as big servers vs groundstrokers, because they all primarily play from the baseline with the exception of Stepanek. As for the matches tomorrow, I really can't call Ferrero v Stepanek - despite what some people say above, the return on a fast surface is not exactly Ferrero's forte and never will be, so Radek has a chance if he serves well, blankets the net immediately and gets into tiebreaks as he did today. He can't possibly break down Ferrero from the baseline considering the respective quality of their groundies, especially on the forehand side.

I'm hoping Ljubo will repeat his easy win over Robredo in the Dubai semis earlier this year, but you never know if fatigue might play a factor or whether Roboro has a good return day, I think he can play well against big servers not named Roddick. If we do get that all-Spanish final, check out the Ferrero-Robredo head to head and you can see who the clear favourite should be.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

You just need to watch him play from the back to see that he was brought up on clay, his strokes are very loopy off both sides. Mind you, he can obviously volley, from what I've seen of him in doubles with Ancic he comes in behind his serve just as much as his younger partner. Put it this way, he knows what he's doing up there more than, say, Johansson the Younger.

Agreed. With a serve like that, it's down right homoerotic to say he won't be holding 90% of the time.
