Murray seeded at Wimbledon?

Another Murray thread to get bashed no doubt...but take a moment to think about it!

Murray will have about 515 points on Monday (assuming he is Bangkok runner-up ) and top 32 is about 1005 points.

Murray has 0 points to defend up until Queen's and has about 12 results he can easily improve on...can he get into the top 35 or higher, and get seeded?

I think it is quite possible

I could also see him seeded higher than Henman...

Maybe. It all depends on whether he continues to improve and progress, you can't take that for granted given that the competition gets harder the higher you move up the rankings. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were still in a 50-70 vacuum when Wimbledon rolls round next year.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Murray seeded at Wimbledon?

I think he might well be seeded for Roland Garros.

Again, it all depends on his results between now and then. A few nightmare first round draws could blow his chances but right now I think it looks on.

Probably depends on his first serve percentage. If it stays at around 45% it will be a struggle.

Henman is going to find it difficult to keep his current ranking never mind improve it as his back is now preventing him from playing. He has points to defend this autumn and it is still unclear if he will be playing at all. Then in the spring he has yet more points to defend.

So for Wimbledon I would have thought the odds would be on Murray being seeded and Henman not. Unless the seedings committee decide to introduce some formula that allows Tim to squeeze in.

I think Andy's ranking will be around 30 and he'll be seeded around 20.

for now he's already in the main draw of the AO 2006

A post that deserves to be on MTF Hall of Fame soon:

Why would they seed him 20 if his ranking is around 30? I can understand a proven grass court player being bump higher, I want to see how Wimbledon would try to explain bumping him to 20!

Stan Wawrinka & Roger Federer

They're Wimbledon, they don't need anything.

Time will tell, I hope so but its still a big leap to reach the top 32. I'm not quite sure he's ready at the moment. A big result at the Aussie Open or at RG would help him out big time, and if he can reach the cut-off point for some TMS events it would give him a decent shot.

I agree, I wish more of the younger players were allowed to develop at their own pace without all the media scrutiny
