The last Federer's early title?

Does any of you share my impression that this US Open final, which had some special atmosphere, was also the last Federer's big title that belongs to this part of his carier? He is now on a par with a few big players from the past (Becker and Edberg), he is 24 and was finaly officialy presented to the audiences on the US Open ceremony as maby the biggest player ever ...

In the future I have the feeling he will feel different and will be watched a bit different. He is already a fully formed big name and he will not feel the same urge of winning everything - more just play his game and go for the slam record books, for him and his fans. Roland Garros, A Grand Slam, and Sampras 14 titles before all...

Re: The last Federer's early title?

its a good point, now hes proved himself twice over in ny, i think he may be respected more and i do think that his may goals will be the slams from now on, so next year i expect more loses, not as many titles, but hopefuly another couple of slams.

I suppose you never know. Things can change very quickly, especially in the volatile field of sport, but I'm sure Fed still has more grand slam titles in him. When you're so talented and so determined, as he is, I don't think you can go on such a steep decline.

i doubt that he'll just focus on slams. check this quote from him in the other thhread "fed the conqueror isn't done yet":

"I don't like just to look at the Slams as the only thing that matters," Federer said. "For me, it means the other tournaments, when I'm competing against the best players or playing in front of thousands of people, don't really matter."
