Roger and tiebreakers in major finals

Has the opponent won more than 2 points in any of them?

No he lost 2 against Andy in Wimby but Andy didnt win any on his serve, which is for a big server like Roddick

Federer has always been a tie-break monster, even before he become no 1

Federer tie breaks in GS Finals
03 Wimbledon Philippoussis 7-6(5) , 7-6(3).
04 Australian Safin 7-6(3).
04 Wimbledon Roddick 7-6(3).
04 Us Open Hewitt 7-6(3).

7/7 won..
look at the pattern developing as he goes on 5,3,3,3,3,2,1

nice, scary but nice - should I expect a love TB in the next GS?

Re: Roger and tiebreakers in major finals

I have a theory on why he does so well on tie-breaks. I think he is a little lazy when it comes to breaking an opponent's service game. He does try but not hard enough like Nadal for example because you could go to 0-30 but three big serves from an opponent and it is over.

In tie-breaks, the same game pretty much guarantees success because all you have to do is to hold your own service points. Plus it is a do or die situation and Fed has extra focus.

Need ideas for a new signature...

Re: Roger and tiebreakers in major finals

Yep, this is completely an issue of focus. We know that Federer has all the shots, but there are often times he loses focus a little or puts in a little bit less than an absolute full effort. But with tie-breaks, you can almost see him collect himself and give it all. He's not invincible, but at least at that point he's usually completely tuned in, and it's going to take something special to beat him.

Pretty phenomenal from Federer especially because of what part the tiebreak played today.

Re: Roger and tiebreakers in major finals

Missing from tiebreak list is yesterday's Crushing of Hewitt. (7-0)

It's absolutely focus & he's a better server than Hewitt or AA. I'm not sure his record v. Safin would be so dominating.

Roger thinks playing tennis is like let's go play in the sandbox...Wow what fun. Then tie-break comes & suddenly the fog clears...Enough of this shit already...
