Shenzhen R2: (2) Andy Murray def. Somdev Devvarman 6-3 6-3

Seemed to be pretty routine bar giving up an early break that he had established in the 2nd set. Great serving stats from the 1st.

Andy Murray

Gilles Simon - Juan Martin del Potro - Grigor Dimitrov

Pablo Andujar - Philipp Petzschner - David Ferrer - Mikhail Youzhny - Simone Bolelli

Julien Benneteau - Juan Monaco - Tommy Haas - Gianluigi Quinzi - Tommy Robredo - Guido Pella - Lleyton Hewitt

Re: Shenzhen R2: (2) Andy Murray def. Somdev Devvarman 6-3 6-3

Supposed to be getting some work done but I couldn't resist watching large parts of this. Was all about Andy's concentration, typical match for him against someone that he knew he would beat, someone that he knew couldn't hurt him.

Was really bad in the first three games, then seemed to have a word with himself in the changeover, lost just one more game up to 6-3, 2-0. Then he threw in a classic 2014ray donation break; at least one DF - might have been two, and groundstrokes into the net. Got pissed off and upped his level again to finish it off. Like I say, classic Murray early round match, the only real disappointment being that service game. If he builds steadily from this, he'll win the tournament comfortably. Inclined to think this level is good enough as long as he doesn't run into anyone playing their top game.

If Murray can't win this title he should shut it down for the year

Nadal GS Finals wins over Hall of Fame opponents: 2 (Federer, Djokovic)

Federer GS Finals wins over Hall of Fame opponents: 7 (Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, Agassi, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt)

weak era argument?

'Mon Muzza mate. Still ain't playing anywhere near well enough, but should be good for the title.. Going for the overconfident approach this time.

I used to be your everyday average Joe. Then one day some guy told me I can do whatever I set my heart on. So I tried to fly, and failed. He then told me that there are limitations in life and that I should be more modest in my aspirations. So I robbed a convenience store and got arrested. He then told me not to take everything people say literally, and to use my own initiative. So I became a Trump supporter, and am politely asking you to leave my country.

Easy as expected. This week should be good for Andy. 29th title should be easily achieved here.

With Ferrer gone there's no excuse for him not to win this title. Good for Murray, I'm starting to like him.

A bit worrying that 2014ray is still doing the old go up a break and then donate it right back routine to the likes of Devvarman...

Also what the hell has happened to Andy's passing shots? They've basically been AWOL since Wimbledon. Generally he played rubbish today, but that could be chalked up to a combination of first match in a few weeks and a harmless opponent.
