Ginepri a journeyman?

Ginepri getting the short end of the media stick?

It seems somewhat disingenuous for people to be calling Robby Ginepri a journeyman at such a young age. I think it is great that a player can take control and turn his career around before its too late. A late bloomer yes, a journeyman? Perhaps a bit too harsh.

In 2004 he reached the 4th round of the AUS, and the 4th round of Wimby. It was a matter of bad luck to have drawn Agassi in the first round of the US last year.

In 2003 he reached the quarters of 3 TMS events, with losses to Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt, and Rainer Schuettler, who at that time had been at the top of his game.

Re: Ginepri a journeyman?

Robby has had his wakeup call and is showing what he is capable of. I believe the Nike de-sponsoring woke him up, and he realized that it was time to get serious. He has played exceedingly well and I would not be surprised to see him in the Final. If he then flakes out for the next 6 months and then comes alive inconsistently, we'll label him then.

Does a respected player lose like that lost to an 18 year old?

An American does on clay to a talented 18 year old, sure.

Troicki - Djokovic - Del Potro - Kyrgios - Berankis
Cibulkova - Robson - Kirilenko - Azarenka
Retired but always loving Ferrero - Ancic - Kiefer

Re: Ginepri a journeyman?

Journeymen float around the top 100, and never have such consistantly good results.

So no.
