lol at the speculation that Nishikori withdrew against Mayer. Came back well after losing the 3rd. Not that many lengthy rallies in this one so recovery for match against Wawrinka should hopefully be manageable - I would still anticipate MTOs if not a retirement against Wawrinka.

Kinda hard to make it deep in slams when you're injured every two seconds.

He's obviously a far better player than anyone post-Delpo.

Too bad I watched only the first two sets but I was dead tired for the rest of the match

Needless to say that the more talented player won

Congrats Kei Too bad he'll probably be worn down against Wawrinka in the QF

lol no one questioning the MTO, if that was another player other than MTF's faves they would have been crucified. Happy Nishikori won though.

So happy for Key, only could see first set, and woke up to this great result. Wawrinka next.

This match painfully exposed Raonic's lack of ability,

it must be embarrassing that once a point goes over 2 shots that you're significantly unlikely to win the point.

Couldn't watch it, cause it was too late here, but well done by Nishikori sending Raonic back to the Artic Circle.

Milos seems like a nice, classy and intelligent young man, unlike most of the loud mouthed ignorant and hating idiots on this this forum. Kei also seems like a nice young man too, the problem is though, he may either not show up or last through his next match. I hope I am wrong.

Better player lost. That said Nishikori is roughly on the same overall level as Raonic so the result isn't that surprising. Very questionable MTO though, bad for tennis that the player who did it won.

Nishikori is most likely going to get pummeled by Wawrinka now. At least Raonic would have had a chance...

Bad result. Good for Stan though. Knowing Nishikori he might not even show up for the QF.

Re: (10) Nishikori and MTO def. (5) Raonic 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-7 (6), 7-5, 6-4

One of the best results of the year! Nothing against Raonic but I have always liked the players with talent from the baseline, intelligent play and completeness other than one-sided players like Milos that rely on his serve and bashing the ball. I understand his position, his gamestyle works well and brings him consistent results due to the fact that only a few players can handle his serve, but I don't like it (even if I admire the good servers as a recreational player who has a weak serve... and the serve is one of the most important parts of the game). I enjoyed his game more when he was coached by Galo Blanco but he decided to adotp a new gamestyle that is bringing him better results but I am sure that Galo would have bring him more weapons in a long term distance.

After an amazing season where Nishikori had injury issues once again, Kei is playing great again and is nice to see him playing in that level of tennis. I watched all his matches in Barcelona, took some pictures with him and even said him a few words, the guy is very nice and hard working like a lot of Japanese people. Easy to admire them and their culture!

How was this match different then the one at Wimbledon? Watching Milos play, I'm surprised he won back in July cause last night really should have been straight sets.

Nishikori showing up to play the second set tie-break saved it from being a straight sets defeat for him. He was uetter shit until then.

Either way congrats Kei. These two will probably have more battles down the line. Very close match that really could have gone either way in any set.
