hoyt is a stupid guy outside the courts. most brits players dislike him. he had a fundraising goal for movember for his own moustache, on his website you can donate too, now crowdfunding...and he has been injured most of 2014, so he didnt have to spend a lot of money at all...makes no sense

Re: Crowdfunding in tennis [POST #65 - Jules Marie trying to raise 10K €]

raising money to "play tennis" and then he ends up at a tropical island which was "paid for"??

sounds exactly like a person of integrity Sombrero would support and promote for help

It's indeed a big advantage to travel with a personal coach, but this guy was number one in juniors and the French federation undoubtedly gave him all the facilities and help he needed after his junior success. Now he's 24, still hasn't cracked top 200 and the French federation must logically have stopped investing in him. So now he just asks random people to give him money so that he can pursue his nice life...

It just annoys me when some of these +24 year old players seem to expect that others (federations, random people, ...) continue to finance their careers. I know it's hard to survive financially by playing futures, but then again, you aren't meant to make a living out of playing futures and you're not supposed to play futures for six or seven years like some players do. If you're 24, still hanging around in futures and struggling financially, you should just get a normal job. It's not like these players don't have a choice and are forced to continue their career.
Couldn't agree more.

Even if everything is paid for Jules, I think it's still embarassing for the ones that funded him.
