Thumbs up Taylor Dent def. Ivan Ljubicic! 1-6 7-5 6-3

Normally I don't like these early round play score threads but I'm making an exception because the one-man American DC slaughterhouse Ivan "my fans say I can beat Roger Federer" Ljubicic just got beat by fat American Taylor Dent. Somewhere out there, PMac must be having deep "hmm" thoughts over his No. 2 DC choice.

I haven't watched the match yet but it's a good sign to see Dent recover from a brutal beating in the first set to go on and take the next two. Love the serve stats, how did you win that one Taylor? Ivan still has not been able to replicate the game we saw at DC earlier this year. Perhaps he really did tree during DC and now we're seeing the more normal Ivan at work here.

I know this is premature but I can't help being thrilled that the Americans seem to have really stepped up their games this summer and I hope it continues through to the next rounds and into the rest of the summer.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Amazing choke job by Ivan 6-1 and serving at 4-3...gets broken and downside from then.

I know. I hope Taylor doesn't blow it like he usually does. He needs to keep it nice and steady and quit playing great one day and shite the next.

Well enjoy it while you can because at this rate Ivan won't be collecting any mickey mouse titles let alone masters series or slams.

lmao tangy....

And Taylor's first serve percentage in the first set was 14%
Like, how is that even possible??

Good comeback by Taylor, hopefully he can back it up with some more good wins this week

doesnt make up for Lleyton having to withdraw, but its still awesome news!

I had to go to bed just after he'd been trounced in the first set...didnt think he'd be able to come back

Dent has been playing pretty good of late and Ivan hasn't done anything once he lost to Nadal in Miami.
