Thanks! I'll sign it.
What the ATP is planning to do will kill the doubles in my opinion, it's the worst decision they could have made...

Re: Doubles Petition (headed by Bob and Mike Bryan)

Well, in the interest of being factual (and boring), that petition was actually started by their webmistresses, and the link has been floating around for a few months now. I think I may have signed it twice by accident. Bob and Mike fully support it.

Kudos to Bob and Mike for speaking up about these ridiculous changes instead of being politically correct. Perhaps if enough players and fans speak out, the ATP will abandon this foolishness.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Re: Doubles Petition (headed by Bob and Mike Bryan)

The ATP is a business, and they want to kill double because double doesn't generate money, it's as simple as that.

Remember when the End of Year Double Champs was played in a different city than single? There was like 5 people attending.

Double doesn't sell tickets.

Having said that, what happened to the respect of the sport? Maybe the ATP should care a bit more about double players, and fans who enjoy double.

It's fine as it is at the moment, why the obscession to make changes in tennis?

Doubles doesn't cost them that much more.

Is the petition actually in opposition to the changes by the ATP or just to get more doubles on TV?

As it states on their website...
Quote:
"The ATP has implemented new "Doubles Enhancements" that will go into effect following the US Open. Sets will be played to 5 with a tie-break played at 4-4, with no ad scoring. If you're against these "enhancements" please sign our petition to promote doubles as it's meant to be played."

Re: Doubles Petition (headed by Bob and Mike Bryan)

They were both ranting about the changes during the trophy ceremony in Washington. They thanked the Washington tournament director for being one of the good guys who didn't support the changes & for promoting doubles by putting the majority of their matches in the stadium.
