Super 9 and Masters Series Differences

Sorry guys but can anybody explain me the difference between a super 9 and a masters series.. and why the atp changed the name of the event ??

Same thing, but they formally changed the name a few years ago. Just a marketing ploy I guess with a new name. Also, when it was called the Mercedes Super 9 Series, Mercedes was obviously much more heavily mentioned. Now Mercedes is still a major, major sponsor of the ATP tour (think nets), but they don't have the Masters directly named after them.
