Yes - these two players are obviously still a fair way ahead of the rest of the field. And they tend to get the better of each other when they go into a major having got a recent victory or two over the other.

I absolutely see the winner of this match winning RG too.

And it will be Nadal, of course.

up until now Uncle Toni's only fail is RG 2009, with SoderKing come out of nowhere, this time he will more cautious, but I think he played his trump card a little bit too soon, when other players not yet reveal their hand.a nice surprise is waiting for him in RG, I doubt that he could get past QF this time, we will see.

Re: Is the winner of the Rome final the favorite for RG?

Nope. It's still Nadal, as well it should be.

Rafa must be feeling great thta he's managed to win a clay masters (2 if he wins tomorrow) despite being at 60% for most of both tournaments. If he's anywhere near 100% by the time RG rolls around, he could easily win the title without dropping a set.

The only contenders I see that could possibly beat Nadal in B05 at RG given current form are Djokovic (moderate chance) and Wawrinka (small chance). But unless Djokovic wins convincingly tomorrow, I'd still have Nadal as the heavy favorite.

The Legends: Stan "The Man" Wawrinka Juan Martin Del Potro Ernests Gulbis Grigor Dimitrov Jerzy Janowicz

If the winner is Nadal, yes.

Re: Is the winner of the Rome final the favorite for RG?

If Nole wins .... and does convincingly ... he might have a shot, a psychological boost over Rafa. The last time he won a few matches against Rafa he lost to Fed in the semi, and we did not see if he could capitalize. The other years, Rafa dominated him on clay for the most part as far as I can remember. If he wins this one, and with other wins on hard court, he has a streak against Rafa again, so it will be interesting.

It has to be between the winner of either Vina Del Mar or Copa Claro. Can't decide between the two.

Definitely, not the winner of Rome.

9-2 9-4 7-2 Now, who's the GOAT?

Clayray isn't in the final, therefore the answer is clearly no

I'm no Fakervic fan but he needs to save tennis, sadly tree trunk legs will be fresh. Interesting he's never questioned....

Re: Is the winner of the Rome final the favorite for RG?

Remember what happened after Nadal lost to Djokovic in Maimi? Same could happen if he loses to him in Rome. An early round loss at RG would be on the cards. Nadal has not beaten Djokovic for some time. He has a lot to prove here.

Re: Is the winner of the Rome final the favorite for RG?

More important for Nadal to win this.

Novak already beat Nadal this year and didn't suffer such worrying matches on clay like Rafa had against Ferrer, Almagro, Nishikori, Simon, Youzhny and Murray. If Nafal losses it, he's confidence at RG might be a real problem.

Exactly. I don't know why it's so hard for people to get this. But this is MTF after all.
