People are so getting carried away by his performance against Rafa.

But then again, this is MTF, its to be expected.

Re: Is Clayray the dark horse for the French?

I'd be very pleased with a semi final appearance, couldn't see him beating Rafa or Novak in a best of 5 on clay but he's capable of beating Ferrer and Federer on last nights form.

Andy Murray

Wawrinka - Kokkinakis - Simon - Thiem- Nishikori

Fognini - Paire - Evans

It depends how dark you think a horse can be before it becomes a black hole and swallows the universe. If he gets a walkover against two or three players, plays at his peak in his other matches, and gets very lucky, he could maybe do it. Probably he would tank the final anyway to prepare for the grass courts.

Re: Is Clayray the dark horse for the French?

He's made the QFs and the SFs in the past so clearly capable of doing well.

He's more vulnerable to big hitters on clay than anywhere else though. Depends on his draw. Probably a QF though which should be enough to secure a top 4 wimbledon seeding which is the main thing.

Andy Murray

Gilles Simon - Juan Martin del Potro - Grigor Dimitrov

Pablo Andujar - Philipp Petzschner - David Ferrer - Mikhail Youzhny - Simone Bolelli

Julien Benneteau - Juan Monaco - Tommy Haas - Gianluigi Quinzi - Tommy Robredo - Guido Pella - Lleyton Hewitt

Re: Is Clayray the dark horse for the French?

he would need alot of help, djokovic, nadal, wawrinka, ferrer..i think all of them would have to go down before the final or before they reached murray if he is to win.

im not sure who id favor him to win the final over of any of the guys in the top 10. i think he'd have to face someone outside of it for him to win

Re: Is Clayray the dark horse for the French?

IMO he has almost no chances for better than a QF. R4 is more probable, thou.

If he plays like yesterday, yes.

I'm still drooling over that first set yesterday.

What do you mean "dark horse", he's the favourite in any tournament he enters.

Certainly he's far bigger favorite than Almagro and the likes. And against Nadal has better chance than any other top player except Nole and Ferrer.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

If he doesn't draw Nadal and Djokovic, he is in SF.
