He's let the cat out of the bag....modern day professional sport is serious business.
So theres not as many characters out there as there used to be....oh well...you still see people enjoying themselves out there. They don't have to be goofing off to show it
I watched the EJ Whitten Legends match, it was great fun, but you'd be out of your mind to hope to see anything remotely like that kindof fun in any current pro sporting arena, be it team or individual sport. These guys are retired, their days as a pro player are over, theyre lives are setup, the results dont matter, they don't have to worry about their spot in the team the next week, flak they might cop in the media, letting the fans down...
I'd hate to think that they werent all taking it seriously out there...and even moreso being that fact that tennis isnt a team sport, you don't have teammates to be able to share a laugh with, celebrate a great shot with...many top players have the weight of a nation on their shoulders alone - they can't share the load with others because theyre either by far the best, or simply the only one out there representing their country. In a team sport if one player is not at their best one day, another can step up to bridge the gap.
