Thumbs up Roddick def Bracciali 7-5 6-3 6-7 4-6 6-3

'bout time Andy decided to wake up and realize he was playing at a slam. Well done, Andy, pulling off great shots and winning when you needed to.

Thanks to Bracciali for providing an entertaining match and shaking some sense into Andy. Everybody knows your name now.

No more cruise control, Andy.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

That was a clutch win for Roddick. I hope this kick starts him to go far at Wimbledon. But I still don't trust him in the big matches anymore.

Why you should be proud, Bracciali is a very talented player. Very erratic though but I think Andy needs to have more matches like this in earlier rounds to force him to start playing really well early on.
I think Andy did very well

I'm not all that confident about Andy's clutch play either, cat. But this was a good win for him as Bracciali clearly challenged him far more than anyone expected.

I don't know what this win will do for Andy's confidence. For most normal players it would be a huge lift but it's hard to get a read on how Andy thinks these days.

I think this is huge for Andy, he produced when he needed to and that was evident when he was unleashed his emotions at the end of the match. Like I've always said, I think Andys biggest problem in the slams is that he doesnt play gritty matches in the earlier rounds, and he is forced to play matches like these in QF or SF against players who are more consistent than Bracciali and with Andy being a little shaky its not a good sign. This is good.

That's absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. How do you lose sets to a journeyman with absolutely no game? All you had to do was return well and get balls to his backhand. Federer, Hewitt and Safin could have done that easily. WTF, mate?

Rain clearly helped.

Roddick was off da hizzle fo shizzle in the 5th set.

Bracciali couldn't cope crunch time.

Roddick/experience prevails.

Roddick easy time through to the finals now.

roddick played well to get through, but bracciali also helped him out a little at the end there, so it'll be interesting to see how he reacts in his next match. congrats to him

Did you watch the match? The rain didn't help him at all lol.

I'm very happy he pulled through. About friggin time he won a 5-setter.

mboyle, if you think Bracciali has no game, you obviously didn't watch the match.

David or Tojo or Popp could challenge him, However it looks like it should be another Roger/Andy final. Art better have it's day yet again.

Did you watch the fucking match idiot . Bracciali played magnificently, Roddick had to really lift his game to beat him. He should be happy he won, he didnt lose 2 sets to a journey man he played well and Roddick had to step it up.

These are the matches that I would like Roddick to play, it would force him to raise other parts of his game. I have never enjoyed a Roddick match until today

Re: Roddick def Bracciali 7-5 6-3 6-7 4-6 6-3

I only watched the last couple of sets, but with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 points, Roddick didn't really impress at all. He really needs to lift his game in order to compete for this title. His confidence is sorely lacking, and you can see it in the way he plays. Most of his shots aren't hit with nearly enough authority (where's that ridiculous power?) and today could have been very sticky for him if Bracciali hadn't thrown in that loose game to get broken in the 5th. Good news for Roddick is that he did play a couple of clutch points well to consolidate the break in the 5th, and he broke that awful streak of 5 set losses, so maybe he'll get more confidence now and start playing better. Bracciali played well, no doubt, but Roddick should not have had this much trouble with him. It'll be interesting to see how his next match goes.

Re: Roddick def Bracciali 7-5 6-3 6-7 4-6 6-3

I think Bracciali probably will be the biggest serious challenger for Roddick in his draw. I dont know about Igor he can play well, but I jsut dont think he can step it up, he is so young.
