David Sherwood d. Ricardo Mello 6-3 6-4 6-4

First men's win of the day goes to a British WC...

Congratulations for Sherwood. I have only seen him play once (in Davis with Murray) and wasn't that impressed, but I guess he now has his act together.

Of course, playing against Mello helped as well, even though I bet on the Brazilian

Re: David Sherwood d. Ricardo Mello 6-3 6-4 6-4

an english player winning it can only happen against a player who cant play on grass
Still surprising though, a player like sherwood can beat even a bad player on grass.

Ricardo has been in a slump long enough that I lost count on the months.

Mello played in Nottingham but lost in 1st round. He's been in a slump, even losing on clay.

It's you who is disrepectful.

Re: David Sherwood d. Ricardo Mello 6-3 6-4 6-4

Wish I had the stats on Sherwood Forest.

Very intersting victory, and one the press will follow closely.

Have to get updates on this guy for round 2 comparisons.

If he gets over 70% serves in, I hope he's not on Pim's side of the draw.
