Re: Federer & grass: 29 matches undefeated and still counting

Borg won 40+ matches in a row on grass, so Roger needs to win Wimbledon 2005 and Halle 2006 to reach that.

Can you believe he lost a set to Vicente on grass?

Re: Federer & grass: 30 matches undefeated and counting

Roger for sure did better than Sampras, Edberg and Becker.

Sampras had 23 consecutive wins on grass from 1994 'till 1996, winning Wimbledon in 94, Queens and Wimbledon in 95, won another four matches in 1996 at Wimbledon. The end of his streak was his quarter-final against Krajicek.
Edberg had 17 wins on grass in a row, winning Wimbledon 1990 and Queens 1991, plus winning five matches at Wimbledon 1992. In the semi-final he got beaten by Michael Stich
Becker had only 13 consecutive wins on grass. Winning Queens and Wimbledon in 1985. His next grass appearance he lost at the Australian Open against dutchman Michiel Schapers.

To put a little perspective on Federer's grass streak:

Borg's 41 match grass streak is made all the more impressive cos he never played Queens or any grass tune-up. Went straight from clay to practicing on grass and then playing Wimbledon. So that's 41 straight best-of-5-set matches!!!

Maybe, but if you look at things another way, it is easier to lose a match if someone gets hot serving and wins a couple of TB's in a best of 3 match.

Sampras lost quite a few matches at Queen's during his record stretch. He lost at Queens in '92 and made the SF at Wimby, lost in '93 to Grant Stafford in the first round and then won W, lost in '94 at Queens and then won W, lost in '97 at Queens and then won W, got blown off of the court by Woodforde in '98 and then won W, lost to LH in the final of Queen's Club in 2000 and then won the W.

Is there any website where you can find all the results of Borg's streak?
