Re: Gaudio...

I'm sure Gaudio is heartbroken, he had such a great chance to earn a ton of Race points at Wimbledon.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Re: Gaudio...

Isn't it too early to rule him out of Shanghai?
I mean, I will be surprised if he actually makes it,
but there are still about 4 months to go.

I think you're right mate - he isn't doing badly at the moment anyway (top 8) and he is more than likely to be playing the second clay season after Wimbledon in which case he is likely to pick up at least 70 race points putting him in the 300s. I doubt he will qualify but I think he will finish the year top 15 so anything can happen around the US Open.

Re: Gaudio...

Unfortunately I have just received word that Bye has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to some unkown disease. I hope he can get well soon and start playing up to his potential.

Re: Gaudio...

no, neither do I - it's just 3 weeks/ a month of his busy schedule. Rest up Gaston and heal

I think for me the most talented of all times was (Marcelo) Rios. Marat Safin, 2004

Marcelo has an enormous talent. Gaudio, RG champion 2004

"Rios ... he has a beautiful game, great forehand and great touch," Federer, World number 1

Guillermo Coria: "Ríos and Vilas are my two idols"

Re: Gaudio...

Gaudio is absolutely distraught at the thought of missing Wimbledon that it is giving him sleepless nights, and he only needs to win 1 more thing and he has completed his dream hat trick of successes.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
